{SG}Yosh
on StarCraft Introduction
by o]T3[o:
teamareola.com recently caught up to {SG}Yosh
and touched on a few subjects including WCG,
and WarCraft III. I'd like to thank o]SK[o for
doing another great interview. So without further
ado, heeeeere's YOSH! teamareola.com:
So we should probably start
with the basics--name, where do you live, how
do you like it there, future plans, etc.?
{SG}Yosh: Sherwin
Mahbod, 1/2 year in Toronto, CAN 1/2 year in
San Fran, Cali, and i like both places and people
a lot. Future plans as far as gaming goes is
to keep playing bw or whatever may come up,
probably won't go too much into war3 because
imo it's too slow and i dont like the strategy
of it as i do of bw.
teamareola.com:
What race matchup is your favorite to play and
why?
{SG}Yosh: I
love to play TvZ and TvT because the opponent
has to make a few adjustments to his strategy
to counter Terran's, TvP i think toss has 1-2
good solid builds that pretty much stop a terran
opening.
teamareola.com:
What got you started playing
SC?
{SG}Yosh: I
started playing battle.net when bw came out,
too young too remember why i got into it, but
i think bgh cannons to carriers was fun.
teamareola.com:
Did you play the missions
first? If your end goal is to be good at multiplayer
do you think the missions are worthwhile?
{SG}Yosh: I
never played the missions, but to be good at
multiplayer you shold play ppl better than you
to learn and adjust your style imo.
teamareola.com:
Do you have a favorite all-time game?
{SG}Yosh: My
first online game was bw so i guess it would
be my favorite, although i like CS and D2X a
lot.
teamareola.com:
Who, in your opinion, should we look for in
the upcoming WCG?
{SG}Yosh: Look
for? I'm not sure but i'm pretty positive u'll
still some good players show up (although i'm
pretty sure they are truly bored of the game
just as much).
teamareola.com:
Will you be competing in the upcoming WCG?
{SG}Yosh: Yea.
teamareola.com:
Of some of the more well known players, who
do you enjoy playing with the most, least?
{SG}Yosh: I
like playing some korean players like mymyung,
gorush, zodiac, some high gamei players, and
close friends on bnet in wgt. The least would
probably be nazgul because he still thinks i
hack. oO;;
teamareola.com:
Who has consistently been the hardest player
for you to beat?
{SG}Yosh: I
usually play people 3 games if i have the chance,
but probably hardest i've ever played was Elky
in SCDynasty tournament where i won the semifinals
against him 2-1 and then he on me from losers
bracket 3-1.
teamareola.com:
Have you been approached for sponsorship to
play in korea professionally?
{SG}Yosh: No,
although i do hear that i should play professionaly
from good players (or whatever thats worth for
the matter).
teamareola.com:
Have you always been a terran player or do you
switch around?
{SG}Yosh: I
played protoss in bgh days, and then i switched
to Terran, but not out of a serious gaming perspective.
I just liked them and their units.
teamareola.com:
I've seen you go both gollie and wraith against
carriers in temple PvT-- how do you determine
when to use each?
{SG}Yosh: I
think goly sucks and wraith sucks, you make
your pick and good %$#* luck.
teamareola.com:
In your opinion, how much of being a good SC
player is innate skill and how much is hard
work?
{SG}Yosh: Being
a good bw player does take skill which u can
acquire from practice, repitition, tourneys,
etc. but imo the hard work comes when you have
to add lib and change your plans around when
something unexpected happens in the game(s).
teamareola.com:
Do you think the North American culture would
accept pro-gaming as a legit sport/past-time?
{SG}Yosh: I
think it should be accepted anywhere as long
as events occure live.
teamareola.com:
What would you say the strongest and weakest
parts of your game are?
{SG}Yosh: imo
i think my micro is strong and builds are strong,
i think constant scvs in mid game is poor though.
teamareola.com:
Everyone has those, "When I was a newbie" stories.
Do you have any for us?
{SG}Yosh: hehe
no i dont
teamareola.com:
Where do you usually play your games/with whom
do you play?
{SG}Yosh: Recently
in wgtour on europe server on the dnc team and
i played most of my better games against players
such as corbalt, rekrul, hellghost, satanik
and fisheye. All my 2on2 games have been with
hattan.
teamareola.com:
Have you been playing Warcraft 3 recently and
what do you think of it at this point?
{SG}Yosh: I
had the beta of war3 and at first it caught
me eye but i dont like the gameplay very much.
teamareola.com:
In terms of multiplayer, what do you think Warcraft
3 will be like going forward?
{SG}Yosh: For
multiplayer, like Player vs Player tournaments
i think there'll be lots of tournaments with
lots of prizes, and maybe pro gaming will expand
much more.
teamareola.com:
How do you see the future of Warcraft 3 as a
"pro-gamer game?"
{SG}Yosh: I'd
imagine it to be just like how bw leagues are
right now. Diff teams with diff players participating
in diff leagues, but it depends on the sponsors.
teamareola.com:
What other games/types of games do you enjoy?
{SG}Yosh: I
like first person shooters like Counter-Strike,
love RPGs like Final Fantasty, and strategy
like StarCraft.
teamareola.com:
Anything else you'd like to add/people you'd
like to mention?
{SG}Yosh: No
i think there were some good questions here
and thx for the interview. Shoutouts to hattan,
dreame, rekrul, corbalt, hg, satanik, fisheye,
mcnasty, veg (lol), wing-zero, JaKe, and the
pg leaders and team.
teamareola.com:
Thanks to {SG}Yosh for taking the time to answer
the questions and good luck to him in the upcoming
WCG.
